The national teams of Bulgaria achieved a victory and a draw in the sixth round of the Chess Olympiad in Budapest.

For the ladies, Bulgaria reached 2:2 points against number 30 in the starting list, Austria, and considering the positions, the point taken should feel like a victory.

Draws were fixed on the first three boards between Antoineta Stefanova and Regina Tysel Pokorna, Nurgyul Salimova and Katarina Neverkla, as well as between Beloslava Krasteva and Veronika Exler.

Thus, the fate of the entire match had to be decided by the outcome of the game between Yasmin-Denize Schlofer with the whites and Gergana Peycheva with the blacks.

Peycheva was in a completely lost position, but she fought until the very end and her persistence was rewarded with a draw after 90 moves, which brought the match to a draw.

Thus, our European champions from last year in Budva have 9 match points and are in 13th place. The leader with the maximum 12 match points is India.

The men’s team prevailed with 3:1 points over Mongolia. Ivan Cheparinov and Martin Petrov recorded victories with the white pieces. On the first board Cheparinov dealt with Ganzorig Amartuvshin, while on the third Petrov outplayed Erdene Baasansuren.

The other two boards were fixed draws. Arkadiy Naidich and Sumiya Chingun did not win on the second board, and Grigor Grigorov and Mukhdalai Amilal shared the fourth point.

With the success, our men’s team collected 8 match points and occupies the 44th place. The leader with 12 match points is again India.

Tomorrow is an off day at the Olympics, and the seventh round is on Wednesday. The tournament continues until Sunday.
