Gerhard Schröder: Strange appearance at Gregor Gysi
Gerhard Schröder postponed his reign as Prime Minister in Lower Saxony by twenty years and dated the period for his red-green government with Jürgen Trittin to 1970 to 1974. Meanwhile, this only started in 1990. After all, according to “Bild”, Schröder briefly remarked: “I’m confusing the numbers now.” There was no correction from Gysi. As a reminder: From 1994, Schröder was able to use his SPD even rule alone in Lower Saxony. In his statement, according to the “Bild” report, he also gave incorrect numbers: “Then I got an absolute majority in 1974,” he is said to have explained on stage.

Gerhard Schröder confuses with statement about Oskar Lafontaine
His analysis of Oskar Lafontaine may have been no less confusing to the audience. He therefore attests to his former SPD companion being “one of the greatest political talents” of the German post-war period. What Schröder means by the statement that without Lafontaine “the SPD would have had far greater problems” from 1969 onwards remains unclear. Until 1977, Lafontaine, who had only joined the SPD in 1966, was primarily active at the state level in Saarland.
