WELT will continue to present the most interesting books and authors on this list. This year’s jury looked at a total of 197 titles, which included the speaker Natascha Freundel (RBB), Gerrit Bartels (“Der Tagesspiegel”), Magda Birkmann (Literary representative and free literature), Torsten Hoffmann (Education University of Stuttgart), Marianna Lieder (freelance). critic), Regina Moths (The Moths Literature Store) and Klaus Nüchtern (“Der Falter”). I 17. SeptemberThe link opens in a new tabThe jury announced its final selection. These will be the six books that can hope to receive the German Book Prize, worth 25,000 euros, which will be received on October 14th at the Frankfurter Römer, at the beginning of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The book fair takes place from October 16th to 20th.

This is the 20th time that the novel of the year has been selected. The German Book Award was launched in 2005 to bring more contemporary German literature to the national and international stage. Also and not less with regard to the book business. This has been achieved in practice all the novels of the year since 2005 have become best sellers, although in different degrees. Award winners since 2005 include Julia Franck (“Midday Woman”), Uwe Tellkamp (“The Tower”), Robert Menasse (“Capital”) and Kim de l’Horizon (“Blood Beech”). Last year Tonio Schachinger (“Real-ori”) won.

And all the winners of the game are not only the subject of the media, but also the subject of conversation among book lovers, at the time of the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair. 19 years after its inception, the award can be considered established; of the number of books submitted, the announcement of the 20 selected novels (longlist), the announcement of the final selection of six novels, the announcement of the winner at a celebratory award ceremony in Frankfurt’s Römer. It was sometimes said at the time that literary journalists were not PR editors. Today, everyone in the literary world is de facto grateful for the event that creates communication and reaches people who may be interested in books once, twice or three times a year.
