German elections polls: boom of the Greens, the post Merkel is green. The numbers

by time news

The boom of the German Greens continues in the polls after the launch of their leader, Annalena Baerbock, in the race to the chancellery in view of the elections scheduled for Sunday 26 September. According to a Forsa survey carried out for RTL / NTV broadcasters, if today we voted for the renewal of the Bundestag, the environmental party would win 28% of the votes and with this the palm of first political force in Germany.

The CDU / Csu of is not raised Angela Merkel, which remains five points behind, at 23%, while the SPD does not go beyond 14%: in essence, if these balance of power remained confirmed, the Greens would now reach double the electorate of the Social Democrats. On the other hand, there was little movement among the other parties.

The far right of the Afd loses one point at 10%, the liberals of the AFD remain stable at 12%.FdpLinke, the party of the left, slipped by one point to 6%. The Green leader also performed well in the so-called “Kanzlerfrage”: that is, if the next chancellor or chancellor were directly elected, 31% of Germans would vote for Baerbock. Just under double the result of the Cdu / Csu candidate, Armin Laschet, which does not go beyond 17%. Third was the Social Democrat Olaf Scholz, current Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister, with 12%

According to these numbers and the proportional electoral law, Verdi and SPD with 42% would not have a majority in the new Bundestag anyway and, therefore, to govern they would have to form an alliance with the radical left of Linke, distant heir of the SED, the party only one of communist East Germany. Provided that the Linke, in continuous decline in the polls, does not remain below the threshold of 5%. It is difficult to hypothesize a Verdi-SPD-liberal government alliance, even if in Berlin they do not rule it out as a last resort in case of impasse.
