The poker king of the world comes from Germany!
Born in Berlin, Koray Aldemir (31) wins the World Poker Championship in Las Vegas. His prize money: eight (!) Million dollars! Plus a diamond-studded bracelet valued at $ 500,000.
A total of 6650 players (with a starting stake of $ 10,000) took part in the 2021 WSOP (World Series of Poker) No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, the Poker World Cup. The event had been running since November 4th.

One 2.36 p.m. Local time in Las Vegas (11:36 p.m. in Germany) the big World Cup final started. 36 minutes late.
Koray Aldemir against the British Jack Oliver against the American George Holmes. The German is the clear favorite and has accumulated almost four times as many chips as his opponents in the past 7 days.
4.15 p.m. there’s the first break. 25 minutes. The players leave the table.
One 4.45 p.m.: Oliver bets his remaining 35.7 million chips – and loses! He’s out! His consolation: $ 3 million.
Aldemir hides his poker face behind a colorful Covid-19 mask. Holmes wears his baseball cap pulled down over his face. The duel can begin. The German has chips worth 261 million, Holmes stands at 137 million. A clear advantage for Aldemir – but everything can change again quickly.

8.20 p.m .: Aldemir regained the lead, winning 18.5 million chips.
One 8.47 p.m. Then the decision: Aldemir holds 10-7, Holmes with KQ but the better hand. However, after the flop (three cards in the middle), the German immediately has two pairs with 10 and 7. Holmes fires his chips into the middle, then hits the king with the fourth card. After thinking about it for a long time, he pushes everything into the middle after the last card (river) – Aldemir takes a moment and calls. Holmes loses all of his chips. The end! The American gets $ 4.3 million for second place. The Austrian by choice, on the other hand, lets his buddies celebrate.
