Germany announces the delivery of the largest military aid package to Kyiv since the beginning of the war

The German Ministry of Defense announced this Saturday the delivery of a new one to Ukraine military aid package valued at 2.7 billion of euros, the most abundant since the beginning of the invasion of Russia.

The aid remittance includes 30 Leopard 1 tanks15 Gepard autonomous anti-aircraft armored vehicles, four IRIS-T-SLM air defense systems, 20 Marder armored vehicles, 200 reconnaissance drones, a hundred light APC vehicles, a hundred more logistical support vehicles and ammunition, according to progress in the last hours The mirror.

The new package practically doubles the total arms aid given by Germany in Ukraine since the beginning of the war, in February 2022, according to the Ministry. The German Government had previously approved arms deliveries worth 2.75 billion euros.

The German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, celebrated that “with this valuable contribution of urgently needed military equipment, we are demonstrating once again that Germany takes its support seriously” and added: “Unfortunately, the end of war does not seem close. Therefore, Germany will provide all the help it can, as long as it is necessary.”

According to the report, this remittance of aid has been conceived as a symbol of German solidarity with Ukraine in parallel with the presentation of the Charlemagne Prize of Aachen to the Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenskiwho could visit Germany this Sunday to attend the ceremony.

In one of the first reactions from Kyiv to the announcement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitro Kulebahas asked that this aid arrive as soon as possible in the country.
