«Modern Immigration Legislation»: this is how the German Labor Minister, Hubertus Heil, presented on Wednesday one of the flagship reforms of the government of Olaf Scholz. The bill, adopted by the Council of Ministers, significantly eases the conditions of access to the labor market for qualified workers from outside Europe. Concretely, it will no longer be necessary to present a work contract to come to Germany, as is the case today. In the same spirit, speaking the language of Goethe before immigrating will no longer be an obligation; taking German lessons once installed will suffice. The procedures for recognizing foreign diplomas will also be simplified.
