An event dedicated to the Nowruz holiday was held in the German city of Essen, artist Jamal Rakhmanly living in Germany told Day.Az.

The city cultural center Villa Rue hosted the opening of an exhibition of children’s drawings dedicated to the holidays of Nowruz and Easter (note – in Germany the Easter holiday is called Oster).

The exhibition presents works not only by Azerbaijani children living in Essen, but also by young German artists. The exhibition, which will last until the end of March, reflects the points of contact between Azerbaijani and German cultural traditions.

As part of the event, artist Jamal Rakhmanly held a master class for children on painting eggs and creating spring wreaths. According to the artist, in the near future she plans to hold a master class on creating the Azerbaijani national headdress arakhchin.

Also within the framework of the event, a performance was held by the teacher of children’s music school No. 2 named after Rashid Behbudov, pianist Kamali Tagizade, who performed works by Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Tofig Guliyev, Javanshir Guliyev, Gara Garayev and Azerbaijani folk music. Musical works were performed by the exhibition participants, young artists Madina Beydullayeva and Elif Iskender.

It should be noted that the traditions and customs of celebrating Novruz in Azerbaijan aroused great interest among residents of the city of Essen.
