The party of the “left” (Die Linke) has asked the federal government to expand the list of citizens who are entitled to free PCR tests during the coronavirus pandemic. According to party politicians, contact persons infected with coronavirus, as well as users of the CoronaApp application, which warns of possible virus infection, who receive a message, should not wait for the onset of symptoms in order to be able to take a free PCR test, said the head of the parliamentary group “left” Jan Korte in an interview news agency AFP.
Now residents of the country who have passed an express test and received a positive result can do a free PCR test. Contact persons who have not been quarantined are also eligible for a free PCR test if they develop symptoms such as a runny nose, fever, sore throat, aches, etc. The Left Party believes that this is not enough. “This is stinginess, completely inappropriate for this situation,” – said Corte.
It has been known for several months that those infected with Covid-19 are contagious even before symptoms appear. The new federal government should “end the austerity program due to the pandemic and immediately ensure that contacts and people warned through the CoronaApp can immediately take a free PCR test,” concluded Corte.
