In Germany, the seven-day coronavirus infection rate peaks for the second day in a row. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on the morning of Tuesday, November 9, the infection rate rose to 213.7 cases per 100 thousand population. Only the day before, an indicator of 201.1 cases was recorded – at that time the maximum for the entire time of the pandemic in Germany. A week ago, the incidence of covid infection in Germany was still 153.7, and in October – 64.4 cases per 100 thousand population.

The daily increase in new infections in Germany has more than doubled on a weekly basis to 21,832 cases (10,813 – a week earlier). The absolute maximum daily increase was set on November 5, when 37,120 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the country.

The rise in the number of deaths

Over the past day in Germany, 169 deaths from coronavirus were also recorded (81 – a week earlier). In general, over the entire time of the pandemic in Germany, 4,804,378 people have already been infected with the coronavirus, 96,727 of them have died.

The occupancy rate of intensive care units – the most important criterion in Germany for the introduction of acicoronavirus restrictions – as of November 8, increased to 3.93 per 100 thousand population. The maximum value for this indicator – 15.5 – was set in December 2020 at the peak of the second wave of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the future ruling coalition in Germany, composed of Social Democrats, Greens and Free Democrats, on November 8 agreed on a catalog of measures to combat coronavirus until March 19, 2022. Among other things, it provides for the return of free antigenic express tests and the introduction of 3G at the workplace (admission only for vaccinated, recovered and tested). A new large-scale lockdown is not planned.
