Germany’s interior minister is working to get the country’s cyber security commissioner fired, on suspicion of having ties to people who were involved with Russia’s secret services.

Several media outlets in Germany reported that Erna Schoenbohm, president of the Federal Information Security Agency BSI, such connections exist through Germany’s governmental Cyber Security Council. It is claimed that Schoenbohm is connected to a company that is a subsidiary of a cyber security company, which was founded by a man who was a former member of the Soviet secret service KGB.

Schoenbohm himself did not respond to the news and the German Interior Ministry also refused to comment, reports Reuters. The chairman of the parliamentary committee overseeing Germany’s intelligence agencies, Konstantin von Notz, responded by saying that “such accusations must without a doubt be thoroughly investigated.”
