The work to improve the athletic track of the ‘Olympic’ stadium for the development of the Tenth National Youth Games in Chimborazo entered the final stretch.
Thus, improvement work has been carried out on the athletic track of the ‘Olympic’ stadium in Riobamba to meet the requirements established for the X National Youth Games in Chimborazo.
“The athletic track was deteriorated, especially from the first to the fourth lane, for this reason the plates have been raised, work has been done on what has been damaged and they have been glued back on,” said Elías Cuascota, in charge of the repairs. track.
In the same way, Cuascota highlighted that before the work carried out, the track had potholes, raised spots, hills and the paint was not in optimal conditions. “Polyurethane has been put in already worn-out areas,” stressed Elías Cuascota.
Polyurethane is a synthetic material that covers the athletics track, allows the performance of sports competitions according to the standards and regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (AIFA). “We have worked with foreign materials of good quality. Polyurethane, EPDM (waterproofing material for all types of surfaces) and glues have been used”, stated Cuascota.
It is guaranteed that the track is in perfect condition so that the sports disciplines that require the use of the athletic track can be carried out. “Normally a year is guaranteed for the arrangements made,” added Cuascota.
The time invested in the arrangements of the athletic track is one month, announced Elías Cuascota. In addition, it is expected to deliver the complete runway improvement work on Monday, August 21. “We are close to completing the work that has been required to improve the track and, in this way, guarantee a good setting. On Monday all the activities will culminate, the only thing left is to clean the track and finish with the delineation of small areas and correct tonalities in terms of paint,” said Cuascota.
Elías Cuascota has extensive experience in fixing athletic tracks and laying synthetic grass. He has worked for sports federations such as: Guayas, Pichincha and Azuay.
