Although there is a ban on the use of ‘air horn’, private buses in Puducherry do not follow it. In fast-moving buses, the air horn is blared in such a way as to tear the eardrums. As a result, two-wheeler drivers and pedestrians are affected. There is a situation where bike riders get unsteady and meet with accidents. A complaint has also been sent to the traffic police to prevent the use of air horns in buses. The police consulted with the bus owners in this regard.
In this case, the private bus owners met and spoke to Senior SP Nara Chaitanya yesterday. In the presence of SPs Kakkar Maran and Mohankumar, they told Senior SP Nara Chaitanya that they will remove the air horns themselves. They requested to give due time for it. Following this, the air horns in all the buses should be removed by the 31st. From September 1, air horns on buses will be confiscated. Police said strict action will be taken under the Motor Vehicle Act.
