According to the sources, under the Prime Minister’s new package, a 300% increase in pulses and rice subsidy is being considered at utility stores, in which the subsidy per kg of lentils, chickpeas and whole rice will be increased from Rs. 25 to Rs. 100, the subsidy for ghee per kg will be increased from Rs. The summary of the Prime Minister’s new package for utility stores has been sent to the ECC, the new model of the Prime Minister’s package will be applied after the approval of the ECC and the federal cabinet. The relief package could not be implemented from July 1, until the new package is implemented, the current Prime Minister’s package will be continued.

In this regard, officials say that under the Prime Minister’s package, 5 basic commodities are being subsidized at utility stores, sugar, ghee, flour, rice, pulses are being subsidized to BISP users.

In the budget, 65 billion rupees have been allocated for utility stores and Ramadan package, 10 billion rupees have been allocated for the Prime Minister’s Ramadan relief package, and 55 billion rupees have been allocated for the current financial year for the Prime Minister’s relief package.

It should be remembered that 35 billion rupees were allocated under the Prime Minister’s package last financial year.
