TREVISO. He showed up at the school where they were waiting for him for almost three yearsbut after 550 days of absence they didn’t even let him in: the absentee professor, a law professor, had already been fired.
It happened in a high school in Treviso. The teacher, a 60-year-old from the province of Taranto, had practically never been seen in class. Placed on a permanent contract since 2011, he had accumulated absences over the years for a total of 550 days: the first year never a roll call in class for leave; the other two with continuous absences due to illness, not continuous, but fragmented, often between Monday and Saturday, plus – according to the school – other “unjustified” absences.
The ‘ghost’ teacher tried to take back his chair on Monday morning, but was stopped at the entrance. The high school, having completed all the required procedural steps, had already stamped the provision for his dismissal, with the favorable opinion of the Treviso school office.
