The group (G)I-DLE also announced that they will take strong action against illegal synthetic materials using deepfakes.

On the 3rd, Cube Entertainment (182360), the agency, posted a post titled ‘Guide to responding to the spread of artist deepfakes’ on its official social network service (SNS).

Cube Entertainment stated, “We have confirmed that malicious deepfakes (AI-based synthetic videos) targeting our artists are being distributed online,” and “We are taking this very seriously as it is clearly a criminal act that seriously damages the artist’s reputation and causes mental distress.”

He continued, “We are currently continuously monitoring the matter and collecting data, and we plan to take strong legal action without leniency against the creators of deepfakes and those who distribute them.”

He added, “We will continue to do our best to protect the character and rights of our artists, and we will respond strongly to any illegal acts that defame our artists.”

Deepfake is a technology that synthesizes images based on artificial intelligence, and recently, illegal synthetic photos and videos using deepfake have become a serious social problem. On the 28th of last month, the police conducted a special crackdown on deepfake sex crimes, and 88 reports were received in just one week. Deepfake crimes targeting celebrities are also spreading, and their agencies are also responding strongly.

Previously, YG Entertainment (122870), the agency of group Blackpink, JYP Entertainment (035900), the agency of singer Kwon Eun-bi, Woollim Entertainment, and Adore, the agency of group New Jeans, also announced that they would take strong legal action against illegal composite materials using deepfakes.
