Giacomo Puccini’s arias resound in the halls of Palazzo Bernardini, in the historic center of Lucca. And they do so through a video reduction of Tosca’s three acts, made inside the historic Lucca building by professional singers, accompanied by an ensemble of musicians, whose content will be disseminated through the Club La Bohme Association’s YouTube channel. The shots, taken during the interpretation, were used to make a DVD which Confindustria Toscana Nord will pay homage to its members on a forthcoming occasion.
L’idea
This project was born from an idea shared between the association itself in the people of Silvana Froli – its president and opera singer of international scope – and Tiziana Criscuoli, narrator and presenter of the events, in agreement with Confindustria Toscana Nord, together with the current president Daniele Matteini and former president Giulio Grossi, who immediately welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm. In the video Froli plays the protagonist, Floria Tosca; the tenor Marco Mustaro Mario Cavaradossi; the baritone Giovanni Mazzei has the role of the baron Vitellio Scarpia and the sacristan Mattia Campetti. Criscuoli also plays the Marquise Attavanti, becoming the narrator of the staging and telling the story of the palace. The artists are accompanied on the piano by Flavio Fiorini and on the flute by Sara Tomei. The images show Palazzo Bernardini which becomes a stage for a day, creating the setting for Giacomo Puccini’s arias. A theater that is not a theater, a place that is not a place to set the opera. Filming and video editing were handled by Lavinia Andreini. The initiative organized by the La Bohme Association is part of the larger project, “Puccini On”, the aim of which is to create a relationship of mutual trust with the companies and excellences of the Lucca and Lucchesia area. with the intention of meeting twelve excellences of Lucca, like twelve are the works of Puccini.
