Giannis Stankoglou Talks New Comedy ‘Archelaus 5’ and the Challenges of Modern Communication

by time news

The actor Giannis Stankoglou made his debut on “Studio 4” for this season, where he spoke to Nancy Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos about the new series on ERT1, “Archelaus 5,” in which he participates.

“It is a very fresh comedy, a very fresh work, which I believe the audience will love. From what I perceive from the shootings, it doesn’t resemble anything; and if it does, it’s in very small aspects. It is a situational comedy with very good actors and collaborators who—at least most of them—have done comedy many times before. I am very happy about this because comedy requires partners, people who know the rhythm, who can and are a bit comfortable with improvisation,” said the well-known actor.

“I think whether comedy or drama is received more easily by the audience has to do with the era, meaning what people need. And from there, of course, it relates to how much each work speaks to the era, to the viewer, and how much they will love it,” Giannis Stankoglou added in response to a related question.

The well-known actor also spoke about the new mode of communication through social media. “Things happen that we don’t know about. You see how much information overload there is; I start to think about how pointless some things are, for example, you go on vacation and you post about it. Why do that? Social media posts are vanity. I also posted photos from Thailand and wondered, ‘Do I like all of Greece to know where I am?’ In the end, I don’t like it. It’s this kind of communication that is far from the real definition of communication.”
