Rameswaram: A giant log weighing 1,500 kg washed up on Dhanushkodi beach.

A giant teak tree, 8 feet long and 6 feet in girth, was stranded on the beach of Dhanushkodi Arichalmunai, Ramanathapuram district.

It has been floating there for two days as none of the customs and marine police came forward to retrieve it.

This log may have fallen into the sea from a cargo ship bound for Chennai port from abroad via Sri Lanka. It is up to 1,500 kg, the fishermen said.
