Moscow: Russian President Putin has announced that couples who have 10 children will be given a reward of one million rubles (Rs. 13 lakhs), and women who have more than that will be given the title of Mother Heroine.

The President of Russia has issued a new announcement to increase the population in the country. Accordingly, he has also announced that women who bear 10 or more children will be given a prize of Rs 13 lakh in Indian currency and the title of ‘Mother Heroine’. This means that eligible mothers will receive 1 million rubles (about ₹13,12,000 or $16,000) after their 10th child turns one year old.

The Mother Heroine title was first established in 1944 by Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in the wake of massive population losses during World War II. But after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the awarding of the degree was stopped. Now, it has been announced that she will be given the title of ‘Amma Naiki’ once again.

Also, the decree states that the mother would be eligible even if she lost her children in war or terrorist act or emergency situation. The title of Mother Heroine is considered at the same level as high-ranking state orders such as Hero of Russia and Hero of Labor.

It has been reported that Russian President Putin has signed the relevant law.

Calling for ‘cardinal’ measures to tackle Russia’s population crisis, Russia’s president has said he has seen a gradual resurgence of large families in society when he proposed establishing the title of mother heroine on Russia’s Children’s Day holiday on June 1.
