(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 06 MAY – The “strong technological acceleration – contrary to what happened with the ICT revolution of 30 years ago – is combined with a strong deceleration of globalization and a consequent shortening of global value chains” and this “transformation affects a manufacturing country like Italy and even more directly an area like Venezia Giulia, an economic and cultural crossroads, creating new opportunities”. The Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti is convinced of this, as he said while speaking with a video message at the Festival of Change.
“The condition for not transforming technology into a threat therefore remains a proactive approach. With the awareness that standing still, or being inert, means slipping backwards”, underlined Giorgetti.
According to the minister, it is necessary to “update Plan 4.0, to be anchored to the adoption of artificial intelligence methods to maintain the competitive advantage in industrial sectors. The new Foundation has begun to work on this – that is, on the construction of an Italian path to AI – ‘Ai4Industry’ research institute set up by the Government and which I inaugurated on Friday”. The adoption of digitalisation systems, “such as those based on AI, requires advanced skills and reduces cost differentials. These are favorable conditions for developed economies compared to emerging countries, which can give a new boost to reshoring processes” , concluded Giorgetti. (HANDLE).
