Allevi returns to TV after performing live on the piano at Sanremo 2024. He had been missing from the stage for two years, two years spent in hospitals and treatments due to myeloma. Now the composer is also back on tour for a series of concerts that will take him to stages across Europe. A few days ago, during the performance at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, he confessed to having severe back pain, but he was ready to drown it in music: “The back pain started right halfway through the concert, so I said that phrase that is strong, it is hard”, he tells Five minutes. “The idea that physical pain can be transformed into music is not only a spiritual fact, it is also physical, because when the concert grand piano is playing my energy is absorbed, as if the piano were a very soft mattress and then the contractures of the paravertebral muscles dissolve”.
The illness has multiplied his joy of living, Allevi underlines: “Now I try to grasp from life all the gifts it offers me, much more than before”. And she explains why she called Panic the very sweet music imagined in the ambulance after a panic attack: “It was related to the experience of my first panic attack, so it contains a sort of contradiction, it’s very sweet music that has a disturbing title.” As for the degree in Philosophy, he says: “it is very important for the profession I do. In Sanremo I quoted Kant and I was happy, because when I faced the experience of the concrete possibility of my end and of physical pain, the immortality of the soul is once again became a central node in my thoughts: the immortality of the soul, the great hope or the great illusion of the human race? And of his relationship with his father Allevi he talks about how “for many years he was my biggest detractor, he didn’t want me to be a composer.
