Daniel Tschofenig experienced the moment of his greatest triumph with his girlfriend. This is not a given. Because she is also a successful ski jumper and is always traveling.

Daniel Tschofenig is the surprise winner of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament. The Austrian, who is only 22 years old, secured the title with the last round of the final competition in Bischofshofen. His teammate Stefan Kraft had previously been in the lead and already looked like the sure winner.

The disbelief was followed by great jubilation from the young Austrian. His girlfriend greeted him in the run-out area of the jump, who hugged him and kissed him deeply.

While Stefan Kraft’s wife Marisa, who was cheering on the heart-stopping finale in the stands, was repeatedly shown on the TV broadcast, Tschofenig’s partner would probably have been known to very few winter sports fans to date. She is a successful ski jumper herself, even a world champion.

Her name: Alexandria Loutitt. She comes from Canada and celebrated her 21st birthday the day after Tschofenig’s coup. Loutitt won the large hill world title in Planica in 2023. She also won bronze with the Canadian mixed team at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Tschofenig and Loutitt have been together since they were teenagers and met thanks to their shared passion, ski jumping. In the summer they both try to spend as much time together as possible, sometimes in Austria, sometimes in Canada. There is significantly less opportunity for this during the season. “It’s more difficult in winter than in summer, but it works well,” Tschofenig told the “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten” in 2023.

After all, the fact that more and more women’s competitions are taking place at the same locations or near the men’s stations makes it easier for the successful ski jumping couple. Loutitt wrote on Instagram a while ago: “The best thing about women’s and men’s calendars crossing more often is that we can see each other more often.”

This meant Loutitt was able to be there live at her friend’s greatest triumph. She rushed to Bischofshofen after her World Cup appearance in Villach, 100 kilometers away. And that should be worth it: In her Instagram story, she simply wrote: “Unreal” about a video excerpt in which her boyfriend is carried on the shoulders of his teammates through the ski jump run.

Before the World Cup continues, there will be a double celebration. Loutitt’s birthday and Tschofenig’s sensational tour triumph.
