A young pastor took his own life by throwing himself from the top of a building after receiving a negative response to his proposal to his girlfriend. They had been in a relationship for years and after having paid for his girlfriend’s college, he was frustrated with the rejection.
The death of Pentecostal pastor Prosper Obum Igboke, 30 years old, is reverberating in the international Christian press. He led a congregation in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria.
The details of the pastor’s death were reported by a family member, who said that Igboke supported his girlfriend emotionally and financially during the period in which she dedicated herself to college, and expected them to marry in the coming months.
The same relative expressed surprise that “a man this age and a pastor could do this.” The report was covered by the local media and made headlines on Christian portals, such as The Christian Post.
