Bhubaneswar: A young man who came to the hotel for his girlfriend’s birthday party was found dead. Durga Prasad Mishra (28), a native of Nyali, Odisha and a contractor, was found hanging dead in the Oyo Hotel room in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar.
The initial information given by the police is that the incident was a suicide. At the same time, the family has come forward alleging the youth’s death as murder. They alleged that their friends had called their son to the hotel and killed them according to a pre-planned plan. After the complaint that the incident was a murder, the police have started a detailed investigation.
Last night, Durga Prasad, his girlfriend and two other friends who were suitors took a room in the hotel. They had booked two rooms. But it is reported that there was a fight between the young man and his girlfriend even before the birthday party. Meanwhile, the police say that Durga Prasad hanged himself inside the room when the girl went to the toilet.
The girl found the young man hanging dead around 1.30 am. According to the police, he hanged himself using his girlfriend’s clothes. The girl immediately informed her friends who were in the next room. Then they called an ambulance and brought the young man to AIIMS hospital around 3 am but he died.
The police have recorded the statement of three persons including the girlfriend in connection with the incident. The CCTV footage of the hotel was also checked. The police said that the young man comes out of the room and goes in from time to time and the behavior of the young man is different in the videos. According to the police, the post-mortem report indicated that it was suicide, while a detailed investigation is underway as there is a complaint of murder.
