Giro d’Italia, the bike with a 1 kg frame makes its debut

by time news

Three days before the start of the Giro d’Italia edition number 104, the bike that will be used in the opening test, the Turin time trial on May 8, by the Movistar and Alpecin-Fenix teams has been unveiled. It is a special Canyon with adjustable extensions for the most advanced position possible.

But to reach the record even before leaving is the weight of the frame, which exceeds 30 grams per kilo: an exceptional lightness that pushes the German company that sells only online, recently acquired by a Belgian fund, to declare on its website that the bike is “strictly compliant with Uci regulations”, which does not allow the race to lower the weight of racing vehicles for safety reasons. The bike weighs in all 8.6 kg, half of a normal bicycle for urban use.
