A day in pink will have been enough for Primoz Roglic to win his first Tour of Italy. The Jumbo-Visma rider is officially crowned this Sunday on arrival in Rome. He had taken the leader’s jersey the day before from Geraint Thomas during a mountainous time trial. The Slovenian finishes 14 seconds ahead of the Welshman from Ineos and wins his fourth grand tour after his three Vueltas.
🗣️ “Enjoy it, savour it, remember it. The world’s best, the greatest of all time sprints to victory again.” 🤩

The last stage, which started and arrived in Rome, was without difficulty. The victory was disputed in the sprint and on sight Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan) lift the bars for the first time this season. Quite a symbol since the Briton was competing in his last Giro. He will retire at the end of the season. German Pascal Ackermann (UAE) crashed in the final package.
French side Thibaut Pinot finished fifth in the general classification and won the classification of best climber.
