Basketball Girona fell tonight in Tarragona against Barça in the second semi-final of the Catalan League. The Blaugrana will face Joventut tomorrow (9pm), who got rid of Manresa (89-96), in the grand final of the tournament. Aíto’s team gave good performances and were in the game well until the end of the third quarter (66-59). Girona had gone into the break losing by 8 (45-37), but after the break they managed to equalize the result (45-45) and caused a lot of problems for the Blaugrana, forcing Sarunas Jasikevicius to ask for the first time-out. In these moments of doubt for Barça, however, Girona lacked continuity to finish managing the comeback. Little by little, Barça got back in front and took a gap that was already irretrievable. Shortly after the opening of the last quarter, Barça again led by 10 (72-62) and the team from Girona had no more options to try to reach the final.

Miletic, with 25 points, has been Girona’s main point of reference. Fjellerup and Prkacin have made their debuts, but not yet Garino, who has not fully recovered from the ailments he is suffering from. Satoranski (13) was Barça’s top scorer in tonight’s game. All that is left for Girona now is to prepare their debut in the ACB league, scheduled for next Wednesday, September 28 in Fontajau against Real Madrid.
