The leader supports one of his pillars. Girona has announced the renewal of David López for two more seasons. The former Espanyol defender has signed until June 2026. He arrived at Montilivi last summer (July 2022) and has become one of the most solid pieces of the defensive structure of the team that leads the Spanish League.

He landed in Girona from Espanyol, where he was a structural player in the defensive area. But he did not want to be renewed and he found a place in Montilivi where he has defined himself as key in the arrangement of the three central defense, along with Eric García (right-handed) and Blind (left-handed), that Míchel has designed.
At 34 years old, David López has rediscovered happiness with Girona. “I feel very loved and valued by both the city and the club,” the defender assured the official media of the Catalan entity. “The renewal is a challenge to continue growing alongside Girona. We are experiencing a historic event for everyone. I hope it continues like this,” said the defender, who has extended his contract (it ended in June 2024) for two more seasons.
