Initiated under the theme “Building regional cyber resilience: a collaborative project”, this meeting was an opportunity for Brigadier General El Mostafa Rabii, Director of the Center for Monitoring, Detection and Response to Cyberattacks under the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), to highlight the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen its resilience in this area, while reviewing the main axes of the 2030 national strategy in this area.
He also highlighted the important role that Morocco plays in this area at the regional and international level thanks to the efforts and commitment of the various stakeholders, insisting, in this sense, on the importance of cooperation at the national level in this area.
He also emphasized the importance given by Morocco to the issue of cybersecurity to make the Kingdom “a resilient and secure cyberspace”, highlighting the efforts made on an African scale to address this issue, notably through the creation of a network and the organization of events and seminars dedicated to debate and capacity building in this area.
This panel was also an opportunity for the President of the Cybersecurity Council in the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Al Kuwaïti, and the Director General of the Cybersecurity Authority of Ghana, Albert Antwi-Boasiako, to review the experience of their respective countries in this area.
The panelists were unanimous in stressing the need for effective regional and international collaboration to address the challenges of cyber threats, emphasizing transparency in the exchange of data and the sharing of expertise.
They also highlighted the role of cybersecurity as a pillar for achieving inclusive development, calling for the mobilization of all necessary means, including capacity building and training, to ensure sustainable collaboration in this area at the regional and international levels.
In a statement to MAP, Deloitte’s Managing Director of Cyber Business for France and French-speaking Africa, Imad El Baraka, explained that this panel was an opportunity to discuss the imperative of transnational and regional collaboration in cybersecurity and cyber-resilience, “ignoring geopolitical upheavals and local and regional sensitivities.”
