Give Concessional Increase to Retired Govt Transport Workers – Vijayakanth

by time news

DMDK General Secretary Vijayakanth has urged that the retired government transport workers should be given immediate increase in the suspended allowance.

In a statement issued by Vijayakanth in this regard, “Workers who retired after more than 30 years of service in the State Transport Corporation were being given an increase along with pension. In the last AIADMK regime, the hike in the concessional fare was suspended from November 2015. Due to this they are getting very less pension.

Apart from Transport Corporation pensioners, all other retired government employees are being provided with a subsidized pension. After coming to power, the DMK government promised to provide higher wages within 100 days as per the suspension of the AIADMK rule, but even after 600 days of coming to power, the DMK government has not yet fulfilled the above promise. As a result, 88,000 retired workers have suffered a lot of stress.

And thousands of pensioners have gone to heaven with great disappointment. Also, the transport corporation pensioners only have medical insurance, i.e. the Chief Minister’s Insurance scheme, and they are struggling with serious illness and are not able to get medical treatment with less pension and financial facilities.

I strongly condemn the DMK government, which announced in its election promise that the pensioners’ demands would be fulfilled within 100 days after winning, but has not opened its mouth about it so far. In this matter, the DMK government should immediately increase the subsidy on the pension of the retired transport workers without delay.
