Title: Senior Congress Leader EVKS Ilangovan Criticizes GK Vasan as Opposition Parties Rally for 2024 Elections

Subtitle: EVKS Ilangovan questions BJP-led NDA alliance’s credibility with participation of parties lacking significant representation

CHENNAI – Senior Congress leader EVKS Ilangovan has taken a dig at Tamil State Congress leader GK Vasan, criticizing him for his lack of conscience and questioning his inclusion in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Ilangovan made his remarks during a press conference, where he expressed doubts about Vasan’s commitment to the alliance, stating that he himself would not vote for him.

The comments came in light of the recent consultative meetings held by opposition parties in preparation for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections. The gathering in Bangalore saw the naming of their alliance as INDIA – an inclusive alliance for Indian national development. Meanwhile, a consultative meeting of the BJP-led NDA was held in Delhi, with leaders of 38 parties in attendance, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda.

Of the parties that participated in the BJP-led NDA alliance meeting, 26 had no representation in parliament, while eight had fewer than five MPs. This lack of significant representation has drawn criticism from opposition parties.

EVKS Ilangovan, speaking to the media, expressed skepticism about the BJP’s claims of securing victory in 350 seats, citing a potential vacuum in the alliance. He further questioned the inclusion of GK Vasan’s Tamil State Congress, the only party in Tamil Nadu with just one person as its leader and patron. Ilangovan insinuated that Vasan’s lack of conscience could prevent him from even voting for himself.

The criticism raises concerns about the credibility and strength of the BJP-led NDA alliance as it aims to secure power in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The participation of parties with limited representation has raised doubts among opposition parties about the alliance’s ability to govern effectively.

As the political landscape in India continues to evolve, the statements made by EVKS Ilangovan highlight the divisions and challenges faced by opposition parties as they seek to unite against the ruling BJP-led NDA alliance. It remains to be seen how these criticisms will impact the dynamics of the upcoming elections and the formation of the next government.
