Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, the delegation led by him and His Eminence Metropolitan Grigory bowed to the holy relics of St. Cyril and Methodius in the Holy Mountain. This event is considered a great honor and is a sign of the good cooperation between the Bulgarian state and the spiritual community in Sveta Gora. This was announced by the press center of the Council of Ministers.

The monks took out from the spiritual treasury of the monastery the relics of the Slavic-Bulgarian enlighteners Cyril and Methodius, before whom the Bulgarian delegation bowed and begged for a blessing for the entire Bulgarian people on the eve of the church glorification of the holy brothers tomorrow in our country. The Prime Minister specially thanked the Proto of Mount Athos His Reverend Hieromonk Stefan and the civil governor of Mount Athos Anastasios Mitsialis for their invaluable assistance in bringing the relics of the holy brothers to Bulgaria 2 years ago. “Then tens of thousands of believing Bulgarians bowed before the holy relics of the Thessaloniki brothers as a sign of appreciation. This was an extremely important event for the Christians in our country and we appreciate it,” the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude.

During the conversation with the spiritual leadership, the excellent interaction between the institutions was discussed, thanks to which in recent years there have been no difficulties in connection with the double (ecclesiastical and civil) permits for Bulgarians to settle in Mount Athos, as well as that the same applies to mandatory permits for clergy to worship in the Holy Mountain. “For me, together with the ministers and deputies, it is a great honor to be in this sanctuary of Orthodoxy and the spirit and in the future to maintain a strong connection between Bulgaria in this exceptional place,” added Prime Minister Glavchev.

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev received as a gift an honorary commemorative plaque depicting the scene of the Ascension – the main holiday of the “Esfigmen” monastery.

The visit of the Bulgarian delegation to Sveta Gora continued with a visit to the Central Sveta Gora Temple. Their participation in the celebration of the monastery “St. Vmch. Georgi Zograf”. During his visit to Mount Athos, Prime Minister Glavchev was accompanied by the Metropolitan of Vratsa and Deputy Chairman of the Holy Synod H.
