An online petition launched in Argentina after the World Cup final won against France has collected more than 500,000 signatures.

PMore than 500,000 people have signed an online petition launched in Argentina asking “France to stop crying” after its defeat in the World Cup final. “Since we won, the French have not stopped crying and complaining and do not accept that Argentina is the world champion”, declared Valentin Gomez, the initiator of the petition “France stop crying which had garnered 570,768 signatures on the Change.org site as of 9:20 p.m. Friday.
The refereeing of last Sunday’s final by Poland’s Szymon Marciniak drew criticism in France, including his decision to award a penalty for a foul by Ousmane Dembélé on Angel Di Maria in the first half.

The French also regretted the lack of elegance of certain Argentinian players in the victory, in particular goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Among them the president of the French Football Federation Noël Graet who wrote to his Argentine counterpart Claudio Tapia to be moved by the “excesses” of the albicélestes celebrations.
