Global Entrepreneurship Week: Comilog’s great initiative

DIG/ In concert with 5 microfinance establishments (EDG, SFE, FINAM, COFINA and SODEC), Comilog organized, on November 16 and 17, 2023, various activities as part of the global entrepreneurship week placed under the theme « ’, ̂ ».

This initiative, the first of its kind, was structured around a conference-debate held simultaneously on November 16 in the central town halls of the towns of Moanda, Mounana and Bakoumba, in the presence of the first administrative authorities of the said localities, representatives of the Comilog and those of partner microfinance establishments (EMF) as well as the populations who came in large numbers to drink in knowledge.

These conference-debates, which were led by experts from national firms (FM Conseils, Batoo and AGR), enabled the populations to to be informed on the different issues of entrepreneurship, in particular the prerequisites for embarking on a sustainable entrepreneurial adventure and respect for the different stages in the construction of a professional activity. Not without sharing good practices and managerial experiences.

Furthermore, this event was an opportunity to focus on the seed fund set up by Comilog and the Gabonese State with the partnership of 5 microfinance establishments – for the benefit of the populations of the provinces crossed by the path of fer- intended to support local entrepreneurship and diversify the economy.

Launched at the end of 2022, this project made it possible to finance 144 Gabonese people for an amount of nearly one billion CFA francs disbursed, i.e. 208 jobs created.

Several beneficiaries of this fund were keen to testify as to the advisability of this financial contribution and to thank Comilog and the Gabonese State for this initiative which, to some extent, provides a response to the problem of unemployment in the country.

They took the opportunity to slip in some advice and, to dispel certain prejudices according to which one must have the « bras long » to obtain financial support.

The exhibition-sale which took place during the day of Friday November 17 on the esplanade of the Moanda town hall was the end of the activities.

It gave visibility to local entrepreneurs and encouraged networking.

The organizing committee intends to repeat the experience next year.
