Under the motto “Beginners” are the “Days of Transformation” by Globart from August 31st to September 2nd in Melk Abbey. Lectures, workshops, discussions, music and cabaret are planned. The writer Ilija Trojanow will celebrate the world premiere of his new utopian novel “A Thousand and One Tomorrows” with the musicians Brothers Wladigeroff, it was announced in a broadcast. The festival wants to enable exchange with thought leaders and pioneers.

“With so many new challenges, we as a society are just beginners – the security and sovereignty that we want cannot exist at all. It’s our first climate change and the first digitization,” said director Jakob Brossmann, describing the initial situation. “But beginners can also give courage! Where do you get the strength for a new beginning?” He named the key questions of the event.

In her opening speech, Svenja Flasspöhler, editor-in-chief of the philosophy magazine, asks: “What comes after the end?” Economic expert Ulrike Hermann talks about the economy after the end of capitalism. With “Starting to have time”, philosopher Eva von Redecker pleads for conscious decisions and a new concept of freedom. Cabaret artist Hosea Ratschiller gives insights into his new stage program “Hosea” in advance.

According to Brossmann, the “Protagonists of Change” format focuses on people “who often achieve great things in civil society unnoticed. Here you can get to know them personally.” Edith Siebenstich (Climate Council Association), activist Martha Krumpeck (Last Generation) and designer Harald Gründl (EOOS next) are portrayed. The essay “Beginning. A disenchantment” by Stefanie Jaksch will be presented at the end as a commemorative publication.
