The author and student in Trento interviewed by «Corriere» on the occasion of the month of poetry – Jessica Chia / CorriereTv

Gloria Riggio (Agrigento, 2000), Italian champion of poetry slam 2023 (youngest and first woman in the history of the competition), is a student at the faculty of Historical and Philological-Literary Studies at the University of Trento, and is an editor for the magazine contemporary literature «Inverso – Giornale di poetica», for which she deals with the investigation linked to the reduction and recovery of female poetic production from the Italian literary canon and school manuals. On the occasion of Poetry Month, the poet came to visit the «Corriere della Sera» where she spoke about poetry slam, performative poetry, her research on the «forgotten» authors of our literature and the meaning of poetry. For the readers of the «Corriere» you also read three poems: Alda Merini (verses from The Holy Land); Jolanda Insana, verses from Sciarra amara; and one of his unpublished poems: Derogation for a fine (2020-24).

Riggio has published collections of verses for Edizioni La Gru: Il mirto e la rosa, 2017; The season of doubt, 2019 (some of these are part of national anthologies). His poems have been translated into Spanish and Greek. In 2022 you created the performance poetry show entitled Hypothetical Periods.
