Nutrients that support the recovery of your gut In this edition, a leaky / hyperpermeable gut – also known as Leaky Gut Syndrome (LGS) – and its consequences for your health and vitality are discussed. Good to know that there are plenty of nutrients and delicious foods that can lower the risk of LGS. And if you know what is causing your LGS and can deal with it, these nutrients can even aid recovery. For example, lactoferrin, zinc, magnesium, Omega 3, vitamins A and D, glutamine and digestive enzymes are mentioned by Han Siem on p58 as substances that can contribute to recovery. He also indicates that chronic stress can be a major cause. Long-term effects of chronic stress Stress activates the survival principle and that always takes precedence over all other bodily functions, at least all functions that are not related to survival. Features not directly related to survival are put on the back burner.
