Though, the original time frame did not set this technology to be completed until 2028. Therefore, an external engine supplier is needed for the first two years of racing. The team than competes as a pure factory team and develops its own drive system. Before that,Ferrari has yet to help.
in a statement, Ferrari said: “Ferrari NV announces a multi-year agreement from 2026 with andretti Formula Racing LLC, which includes the supply of power units and transmissions to the racing team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to written confirmation from the FIA Formula entry One 1 from Andretti Formula Racing LLC.”

But after changes in leadership at Andretti - Michael Andretti had destroyed many porcelains in Formula 1 – and RenaultS decision to focus on its own Alpine team and use Mercedes engines, a new solution was needed. renault is renovating the factory in viry-Châtillon and will be leaving Formula 1 as an engine manufacturer from 2026 onwards.
