Go-Pro launched the Hero 11 with an improved photo sensor and also in a mini version

GoPro has announced the Hero 11 Black, the latest edition of the company’s popular sports camera. Externally, it is difficult to notice any difference from the previous model, but GoPro claims a significant upgrade of the photo sensor.

Hero 11 Black offers an upgrade in the field from 23 to 27 megapixel resolution, with video recording in 5K quality at a rate of up to 60 frames per second, or 4K at a rate of up to 120 frames. The sensor also supports wider 16:9 video recording, and automatic Horizon Lock that always keeps the photographed object at the same angle – an important addition to extreme sports photography.

Other innovations come in the form of improved image processing, with the HyperSmooth 5.0 system that the manufacturer claims is now activated automatically when the photo becomes unstable, improving the situation dramatically compared to the previous version. A Time Lapse photography mode allows for the creation of spectacular effects in the hours of darkness without effort, and an interface that the company simply calls Easy Controls allows for photography using quick preset settings, perfect for amateur photographers or those who simply trust GoPro and are not interested in detailed customization. This is of course still available, through the previous interface that remains in place and is now known as Pro Controls.

GoPro’s Endurance battery, which until now was an accessory to be purchased separately from the camera, is now an integral part of the package, allowing you to continue shooting even in extreme temperature conditions. The price of the camera in Israel is 1999 shekels, with a two-year warranty.

Alongside the Hero 11 Black, the company also announced the Hero 11 Mini, which is a rather intriguing alternative. As you can easily understand from its name, this is a compact edition of the Hero 11, smaller by 27 percent and weighing 20 grams less. The reduction in dimensions is done, among other things, by removing the front and rear displays, so that the Mini model is content with a tiny LCD display that details the current photo resolution and battery status and nothing else.

However, the rest of the specifications are almost the same, including the new photo sensor and most of its capabilities. As long as it is possible to manage without the screens (for example – look at photos through the Quik application for mobile devices to which the Mini connects wirelessly), then the Mini may even be a better choice thanks to its compact dimensions. The price of the mini model in Israel has not yet been announced, but in the US it is sold for about 100 dollars less than the regular Hero 11.
