Singer Ko Young-wook, formerly of Rula, expressed his discomfort when his YouTube channel was shut down, asking, “Is this fair?”

On the 23rd, Go Young-wook posted on his X account (formerly Twitter), “It seems like my YouTube channel got shut down overnight. I didn’t upload any harmful content just because I have a criminal record, but can YouTube apply non-existent regulations to only one individual? I’ve already paid all the punishment under the law, so is it really fair that some people can and others can’t?”

He continued, “Thank you to those who subscribed to my inadequate channel, and to those who visited and showed interest! I also apologize and express my regret to those who supported me through email. Although it was a short time, I am grateful to everyone who sent me so much love, and I will not forget that feeling. Stay healthy!”

The messages he received from subscribers he revealed included, “I support you, don’t mind the sarcastic people,” and “The song is really good, there will be many things that will make you feel good in the future.”

On the 5th, Go Young-wook opened the YouTube channel ‘Go! Young-wook’. At the time, Go Young-wook wrote, “I’ve lived a shameful life” and “I feel like I’m just sitting at home muttering and growing old in a pitiful way, so I’m starting YouTube without any particular order to escape my listless daily life.” He then posted, “Take care of your health in this hot weather.”

The first video uploaded by Ko Young-wook, ‘Fresh’, surpassed 300,000 views in just two weeks after its release.

Meanwhile, Ko Young-wook debuted in 1994 as a member of Rula. Afterwards, he was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison, 3 years of electronic ankle bracelet, and 5 years of personal information disclosure in 2013 on charges of sexually assaulting and forcibly molesting 3 minors over a period of 2 years starting in July 2010.

When he was released in 2015, he apologized, saying, “I have reflected a lot on my time in prison” and “I am sorry for causing controversy as a celebrity.”

Afterwards, in November 2020, he opened an Instagram account and announced that he wanted to “live while communicating with the world,” but the account was closed due to a report.
