Dorian Godon (AG2R) ganó De Brabantse Pijl, 205.1 kilometers between Leuven and Overijse.
With changeable weather, which went from rain to sun in a couple of hours, the peloton started in the attractive test that serves as an appetizer for the Ardennes Triptych. A breakaway quickly formed that came to have more than six minutes.
Sander De Pestel, Tord Gudmestad, Johan Meens and Rory Townsend were the stars, until attacks and falls tore the lot apart. Amid the chaos, several riders joined the front line, now made up of Healy, Godon, Kron, Eriksson, Gudmestad and Cavagna.
Soudal’s Quick Step launched solo on the final lap – he had made other attempts before – and took Godon and Healy with him, but then couldn’t keep up. That left the aforementioned duo on point.
In the end it would be them who would risk the victory, which was left to Godon at the sprint, with Healy in second position. Cosnefroy completed the podium in a great day for AG2R.
