Goheung-gun has launched ‘Hainyu’ beverage, an innovative combination of Goheung citron and Chinese sea cucumber. Goheung County (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 31st that it had developed a Korea-China joint beverage called ‘Hainyu’ using Goheung citron and Chinese sea cucumber extract and exported it to the Chinese market.

This drink was developed to increase the utilization of citron, Goheung’s representative specialty, and create added value, and used premium Goheung citron and Chinese sea cucumber extract as the main ingredients.

The development of the ‘Hi New’ drink began in September of this year when County Governor Gong Young-min had an idea to develop a drink with a new taste by collaborating with a new Chinese drink using Goheung citron during the activities of the Goheung Agricultural and Marine Products Export Pioneer Group. Afterwards, we succeeded in developing the recipe in cooperation with the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, and on the 27th, we produced the initial quantity of 300,000 bottles and completed exporting it to China.

This Korea-China joint beverage development is the result of cooperation between various institutions and companies in both Korea and China, including Goheung-gun, Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, China’s Shandong Bulgon Group, China’s Marine Food and Nutrition Innovation Research Institute, and Enzyme Farm. It is a particularly exceptional case. It is noteworthy.

Kang Bin, Chairman of Shandong Bulgon Group, a Chinese partner, visited Goheung County Office on the 30th and delivered a prototype, saying, “Thanks to Goheung County’s interest and support, we were able to launch the beverage,” and “Through various distribution channels, the excellence of Goheung Yuzu will be promoted to China.” “We will spread the word about it in the market,” he said.

County Governor Gong Young-min said, “The combination of citron, which is rich in vitamin C, and sea cucumber, called the ginseng of the sea, is a unique attempt.” He added, “While maintaining the quality of citron, we will develop various new products that go beyond citron tea and enter the global market.”

Goheung-gun and China’s Shandong Bulgon Group plan to use this beverage development and export to China as an opportunity to further promote the competitiveness of Goheung citron to the world, with the goal of selling 1 million bottles per year. Through this achievement, it is expected that we will be able to further solidify the image that ‘If you think of Goheung, you will know Yuja, and if you think of Yuja, you will know Goheung.’

Meanwhile, Goheung-gun announced on the 31st that it had recently selected six excellent civil servants who have achieved results in military administration through active work promotion as ‘Excellent Public Officials for Active Administration in the Second Half of 2024’.

The best civil servant in active administration in the second half of this year was Kim Seung-hyeok, the director of the agricultural policy department, who recognized the damage from the cold wave to early onions in Goheung as an agricultural disaster and contributed to stabilizing the income of growers through online sales. Goheung-gun was the only major producing area for early-growing onions in the country to be recognized as eligible for agricultural disaster support, and through this, 386.15 million won in recovery support was paid to 256 farms, contributing to the stabilization of farm management. In addition, 22,162 boxes (approximately 100 tons) were sold through online sales, leading to an increase in farm income.

The outstanding public officials included ▲Noh Hyeong-gi, team leader of the Finance Department, who succeeded in attracting a space launch vehicle company through the creative sale of public property, and ▲Park Seok-young, director of the General Civil Affairs Office, who contributed to the realization of land designation for buildings.

The encouraging officials include ▲ Ji-soo Kang, director of the Aerospace Promotion Team, who contributed to the hosting of the Nokdong Port drone show and revitalization of tourism ▲ Moon-hee Lee, team leader of the Agricultural Technology Center, who contributed to increasing farmers’ income by actively securing rice seeds and preemptively controlling diseases and pests ▲ 2024 National Heritage Media Art Goheung Buncheong Pottery Han Saet-byeol, the director of the Buncheong Culture Museum, who contributed to the operation, was selected.

The military provides incentives, such as extra points in performance evaluations and reward vacations, to civil servants with excellent proactive administration, and shares best practices with all employees to spread a culture of proactive administration centered on citizens. In addition, we plan to promote this best practice nationwide to promote active administration and lead administrative innovation.

County Governor Gong Young-min said, “By selecting outstanding civil servants for active administration, we want to break the existing framework in the face of various administrative demands and spread an atmosphere in the public service community where citizens can practice administration that they can feel.” He added, “We will continue to achieve results by actively pursuing work in the future.” “I will do my best to motivate employees who have paid their bills and create a public service culture where employees work with confidence based on autonomy and responsibility,” he said.
