Goheung-gun planted its first tomato plant of the year at a youth rental smart farm. Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced on the 3rd that a young farmer who moved into the youth rental smart farm in Goheung Smart Farm Innovation Valley, Jeollanam-do, planted 10,000 tomato plants for the first time this year.
The Youth Rental Smart Farm is a project that provides opportunities for agricultural entrepreneurship to young people with excellent academic performance who have completed the Goheung Smart Farm Youth Entrepreneurship Incubation Center training by leasing a smart farm with state-of-the-art facilities such as a greenhouse environment control system, nutrient supply system, and eco-friendly energy heating and cooling system on 5.92ha of 3 glass greenhouses for up to 3 years.
Kim Geon-ho, a young farmer who has been living here for three years, said, “There were many ups and downs during the two years of farming in the rental smart farm, but the production yield exceeded my expectations,” and “As we begin the last third year, we have attempted new challenges such as moving up the transplanting season and changing the soil.” Kim expressed his bold ambition to produce even more ripe tomatoes in the final growing season.
A military official said, “This year’s 5th Jeonnam Smart Farm Youth Care Project, which was recruited, also had a competition rate of 3.6:1, showing a lot of interest in start-up farming,” and “We will do our best to secure land and attract public offering projects so that young people who wish to return to rural areas can settle down more easily.”
Meanwhile, Goheung-gun was selected for a large-scale smart farm start-up complex (20ha) public offering project worth 24 billion won in July of this year, and the previously selected public offering projects such as the smart horticultural complex (11ha) and the smart livestock ICT demonstration complex (20ha) are progressing smoothly. Taking advantage of the vast Goheung Bay reclaimed land, we plan to actively support the creation of a large-scale agricultural and livestock valley of 600,000 to 700,000 pyeong centered around the smart farm innovation valley so that many young people can settle down in Goheung stably and grow into high-income farmers and fishermen.
