Goheung-gun is the first in Jeollanam-do to pay 34.2 billion won in public interest direct payments. Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it has been sequentially paying 34.2 billion won in ‘basic public interest direct payments’ to 16,000 farms and 12,000 hectares (ha) this year starting from the 27th.
The public interest direct payment will be provided in the form of 11.8 billion won to 9,075 small farmers eligible for direct payment and 22.4 billion won to 7,319 farmers eligible for area direct payment, for a total of 34.2 billion won. Though, for farms with reasons for disqualification, such as non-payment of non-tax income, erroneous accounts, or applications for exclusive use of farm land, a second payment will be made after the reasons are resolved.
The county received applications for public interest direct payment projects from February to may 10, verified target farmland, farmers, and small farmer direct payment requirements, and confirmed payment recipients through compliance checks.
Direct payments to small farmers of 0.5 hectares (ha) or less are paid in a fixed amount to each farm household when all conditions are met by verifying the farmland area, period of farming, and income of all farm members among those eligible for the basic public interest direct payment. In particular, this year, the unit payment price increased from 1.2 million won to 1.3 million won.
Area direct payments are paid from 1 million won to a maximum of 2.05 million won per hectare (ha) by dividing the area into rice paddy/field promotion and non-promotion sections and applying a regressive unit price.
Simultaneously occurring, goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that the Youth Eoheungdan, a youth community participation group in 2024, will hold a flea market and movie night event at Goheung Youth Nuri (youth center) from the 29th to the 30th.
The Jeonnam-type youth community revitalization support project is a project that supports young people to be active in the local community. This year, six youth organizations are selected and supported with activity expenses and network exchange cooperation expenses.
This event is hosted by the Youth Fishing Group (CEO Nam and Nam-jin), and on the 29th (friday), ‘Fern Movie Night’ will be held, offering free movies and snacks, and on the 30th (Sat), used goods and handicrafts will be offered. Family events such as a flea market with sharing and selling and a yuzu pine cone cake making experience are also scheduled to be held.
The military provided various opportunities to promote youth community activities and strengthen each team’s capabilities through the Youth Day event held on October 9th and the Nokdong Drone Show Free Market on October 26th.
Nam Yeo-jin, head of the Youth Eoheungdan, said, “I haven’t had a chance to work with young people since returning to Goheung from Seoul in 2022, but it was good to be able to meet various young people and interact with residents through youth community activities.”
A military official said, “We will spare no effort in supporting local youth who have been unable to engage in various activities due to economic conditions so that they can grow into active participants in goheung-gun.”

Time.news Interview: Exploring the Future of Renewable Energy with Dr. Emily Carter
Editor (E): Welcome to Time.news! Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Emily Carter, a leading expert in renewable energy technologies. Thank you for joining us,Dr. carter.
Dr. Emily Carter (EC): Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss the future of renewable energy with your audience.
E: To kick things off, could you give us a brief overview of the current state of renewable energy globally?
EC: Absolutely! Over the past decade, we’ve seen an incredible rise in the adoption of renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydropower. In many countries, renewables are now the fastest-growing sector in energy production. However, despite this progress, we still have a long way to go to meet global energy demands sustainably.
E: That’s quite insightful. In your opinion, what are the main barriers to further adoption of renewable energy?
EC: One important barrier is the initial capital cost associated with renewable energy projects. even though prices are dropping, investments can still be substantial. Additionally, there are technical challenges, such as energy storage to manage supply and demand fluctuations. Lastly, regulatory frameworks often lag behind technology, making it difficult for new innovations to come to market efficiently.
E: Speaking of innovation, what technological advancements are you most excited about in the renewable sector?
EC: I’m notably excited about advancements in battery technology. Improved energy storage systems will enable us to harness renewable energy more effectively and ensure a stable energy supply. Moreover, developments in solar panel efficiency and offshore wind technologies are game-changers, making it possible to generate more energy with less space and fewer resources.
E: It truly seems that innovation will play a crucial role in the renewable energy future. How do you see the role of policy in facilitating or hindering this growth?
EC: Policy is absolutely essential. Governments need to create incentives for renewable energy investments, like tax credits or feed-in tariffs. Clear and supportive policies can drive innovation and make renewable projects more economically viable. Conversely, lack of commitment or inconsistent policies can create uncertainty, deterring investment.
E: That’s an excellent point. As we look ahead, what role do you think individuals can play in promoting renewable energy?
EC: Individuals have a significant role, both as consumers and advocates. By choosing renewable energy providers, reducing energy consumption, and supporting green initiatives, people can drive demand for sustainable energy sources.Additionally, advocating for policy changes at local, state, and national levels can lead to meaningful progress.
E: it sounds like every action counts. To wrap up, what is your vision for the future of renewable energy in the next 10 to 20 years?
EC: My vision is a world where renewable energy is the primary source of power globally. I envision fully integrated energy systems where homes, businesses, and transportation are all interconnected and powered by clean, sustainable sources. By prioritizing innovation, supportive policies, and consumer engagement, we can make this vision a reality.
E: Thank you,Dr. Carter, for sharing your insights and expertise with us today. It’s clear that renewable energy plays a vital role in our future, and we’re excited to see how it evolves.
EC: Thank you for having me! Let’s keep the conversation going and work towards a sustainable future together.
E: Absolutely! And thank you to our readers for tuning in. Stay curious, and keep exploring the solutions that can shape a better world.
