Gokseong-gun solves inconveniences in daily life as a neighborhood problem solver. Gokseong-gun is realizing warm and close welfare through on-site welfare services. It visits socially vulnerable groups who have difficulty using welfare services due to inconvenient movement and poor accessibility and provides customized welfare services.

First, the ‘Hope Welfare Mobile Service Team’ will visit remote villages every Thursday until November to provide 15 services closely related to the residents’ lives, such as mobile bathing, mobile laundry, massage service, on-site practical training for agricultural machinery, and oriental medicine treatment. The effectiveness is multiplied through cooperation between the public, private, and academic sectors, including the Gokseong Regional Self-Reliance Center, Darimdol Volunteer Group, Chonnam Science University’s Department of Optometry, Gokseong County Senior Citizens’ Hospital, and Gokseong Fire Station. In the first half of this year, a total of 12 operations were conducted, providing 2,161 services. The county plans to gradually expand customized services for residents in the future.

‘Neighborhood’s difficulties are solved by the neighborhood!’ ‘Our Neighborhood Welfare Mobile Squad’ is composed of 11 towns and counties, and a total of 136 people including village heads, electric, gas, and housing facility workers, and other related experts and public officials are participating. They are discovering crisis households and providing living-related services such as painting, boiler replacement, roof repair, and heating cost support to struggling neighbors in need. In the first half of this year, they achieved results of improving living inconveniences for 38 households, supporting living stability for 27 households, and discovering 311 private resources.

‘Mobile Happy Laundry’ regularly provides laundry support services so that elderly people with difficulty moving due to rapid aging, disabled people and vulnerable households can wash large items such as bedding. As an exemplary case of public-private cooperation, Gokseong Regional Self-Reliance Center, Okgwa Agricultural Cooperative, and Seokgok Agricultural Cooperative participated together. Services will be provided by visiting villages three times a week in three regions, Gokseong-eup, Okgwa, and Seokgok, until November. As of the first half of this year, benefits were provided to 105 villages and 1,021 households.

A military official said, “We are providing local residents with services closely related to their daily lives by providing on-site welfare services and using local resources to independently resolve local welfare issues,” adding, “We will do our best to establish a safe and tight welfare safety net to prevent any blind spots in welfare for vulnerable groups.”
