Gokulam Kerala FC has announced the I-League squad for the new season. Gokulam Kerala owner Gokulam Gopalan has announced the team which gives preference to Malayalee players. There are six foreign players in the team including Juan Carlos Nellar from Argentina and Everton Gulmarez from Brazil.
Gokulam Kerala FC will play at the Mancheri Payyanad stadium aiming for the third title in the I-League. Aminou Baba from Cameroon is the captain of the team. In the team which has six foreign players, like last year, Malayalee players are prominent. In addition to Juan Carlos Nellar from Argentina and Everton Gulmares from Brazil, Malayalams Arjun Jayaraj, Naufal, Mohammad Jasim and Shijin T have been included in the 24-member squad. Afghan midfielder Farshad Noor, Cameroon natives Somaliga and Dodindo are also in the squad. The team’s home jersey was released by Gokulam Group Chairman Gokulam Gopalan.
The release of the away jersey was done by Mancheri Municipality Chairperson VM Subaida. Former football player U Sharafali, Sports Council district president VP Anil and others spoke on the occasion. Under the leadership of Cameron coach Richard Towa, Gokulam has been training in Kozhikode for the past two months. The opening match will be played at Mancheri Payyanad Stadium on 12th of this month at 4:30 PM. The drastically changed team is becoming a big hope in the I-League.
