Chennai: The price of gold has been increasing for the past few days and has touched a new high yesterday. Jewelery gold prices in Chennai rose by Rs 200 to Rs 44,720 a bar yesterday (March 31).

Earlier this month, gold prices rose by Rs 880 a barrel to trade at Rs 44,480, the highest price in the month. Before that, on February 2 last, a shaver was sold at Rs 44,040 and reached a new high in response to the budget. Prior to that, the highest price recorded was Rs.43,360 per pound of gold on August 7, 2020. At least they are now selling at a higher price than they are worth.
