Gold rose to Rs 4,817 a gram from Rs 4,793 yesterday. The pound has risen from 38,344 to Rs 38,536. Gold rose by Rs 24 a gram and the pound by Rs 192 in a single day. The pound has risen by Rs 624 in the last 3 days.
The continuing rise in gold prices in the month of Vaikasi, the auspicious month, has caused concern among the general public.
But the price of silver has fallen. A gram of silver fell from Rs 66.30 to Rs 65.90 and a kilo of silver from Rs 66,300 to Rs 65,900.
