The competition organized at the initiative of the “Mega’Gen Maroc” Company brought together a host of swing enthusiasts, mostly dentists, who responded to this initiative.
Held under the theme “sportsmen and blessed, let us be generous”, the 18-hole tournament, organized at “Tazegzout Golf” took place in a friendly and good-natured atmosphere.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the association “Malaika Marrakech”, Darya Mazdaoui, thanked the Company “Mega’Gen Maroc”, as well as all the participants for this surge of solidarity in favor of children with specific needs from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“Through its actions, +Malaika Marrakech+ wishes to enable this social category to fully enjoy its most basic rights, to lead a dignified life and to have financial autonomy,” said Ms. Mazdaoui.
“Thanks to our quality training in the professions of pastry, cooking and gardening, two young girls have succeeded in joining the prestigious Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, and others have been hired in tourist establishments in the Ochre City,” she said happily.
For his part, Dr. Abdellah Squalli, Dentist and participant in the tournament, said that the Malaïka center currently benefits more than 120 children with Down syndrome from disadvantaged backgrounds, allowing them, in an appropriate setting, to follow their education as well as their speech therapy, stimulation and psychomotor sessions.
This space offers specific, individualized support and provides children with educational and psychological monitoring, noted the health professional, while asking the various economic stakeholders to support this association.
Down syndrome is caused by a genetic problem that occurs at the time of conception of the baby. At this stage, the parents transmit a total of 46 chromosomes that represent our genetic makeup. These will come together and form 23 pairs that will serve to define, among other things, the color of our skin, hair and eyes.
In some cases, an extra chromosome is added to the 21st pair, causing the child to become Down syndrome. According to doctors, early treatment of a child with Down syndrome will allow him or her to achieve autonomy and a near-normal life.
